Questions from Track 1

Remote Patient Monitoring & Real-World Data

Feedback Sandro Luna MD

Can we create something that has been created before or do we create something novel?

Yes! Feel free to incorporate existing concepts or elements into your submission – it doesn’t have to be completely brand new from every angle!

When it comes to innovation, it’s not just about what is the flashiest most mature innovation that will have the most impact. Your job/inspiration should be looking at what has been done/tried, and maybe improve on it or do it differently based on your own skills and knowledge. It doesn’t have to be some crazy AI (Artificial Intelligence) model that solves the biggest problems in healthcare.

My team and I don’t know what to create yet. If we want to create an app and need training data, can that be provided?

Unfortunately, Regeneron can’t share data; however, we have useful examples on the Resources and Discussion Tab that you can use.

Here is an example Helpful data sources for data science/AI/ML projects e.g. AACT database from CTTI

You are more than welcome to use open-source data or public data

I know there are 2 tracks – Is there a preference for ideas on one specific track? Should proposals be able to fit both tracks?

Think about the idea you have, think about what track it fits in better.

There may be some overlap, but for the most part, projects should try to focus on one or the other. For example, you can have a COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) health tracking app. Now the data could be relevant – an example where you can intervene based on the data – could be used to inform clinical trials in COPD.

Any disease types of particular interest?

Disease area is open, please see the Discussion Tab for all disease areas of interest for Regeneron

Is the meeting being recorded so I can review it later?

No, but we can post the presentation and Questions afterwards.

Are these resources available on the Devpost site?

Yes, all resources shared in the presentation slides are also posted in a link in the resources tab on the Devpost page. Also feel free to use the Discussion Board, or post questions there and someone from the team will answer them

Is it OK if you do not have coding experience? Does this require coding experience?

If you can use/leverage off the shelf code / building blocks – feel free to use, especially if it saves time. That’s also why some open-source resources are shared.

Was originally thinking to apply to Track 1 – was overwhelmed by Track 2 since thought I needed a ton of data

Thanks for the feedback. The goal isn’t necessarily to have a fully mature app with all the bells and whistles. Doesn’t have to be a ton of data or metrics – could be just one. Best to keep it focused on one area based on your interest, expertise, skills, etc.

Questions?

If you have any questions about the hackathon, please post on the discussion forum.
